We examined the differences between poverty and economic and environmental vulnerability by comparing the Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI) to the Economic Vulnerability Index (EVI). We contributed to the poverty literature by developing our own index, using weighted macroeconomic and geopolitical indicators, that provides a more comprehensive and less arbitrary picture of poverty.
